Their live album simply called ‘The Damerini Ensemble (formerly the Piazzolla Ensemble) is an incredible and moving tribute to the tango and the music of Astor Piazzolla. Founded in 2000, the Piazzolla Ensemble is the brainchild of world renowned concert pianist Massimilliano Damerini. Drawing on a wealth of young instrumental talent – in particular from the Conservatorio di Musica ‘Nicolo Pagannini’ di Genova – the group celebrates the passion and infectious rhythms of tango, epitomised by the work of Argentian composer Astor Piazzolla. Their first album was recorded live in Liguria last summer and mixed by Marco Canepa.
